Call for Submission to the

2026 AAUTE Emerging Talent Awards for research in  English Language Teaching and Anglophone Cultural Studies

And announcing the

2027 AAUTE Emerging Talent Awards for research in English Linguistics and Anglophone Literatures

AAUTE will offer two Emerging Talent Awards each year for a scholarly article published or accepted for publication in the preceding two calendar years. In 2026, the focus will be on research in the areas of English Language Teaching and Anglophone Cultural Studies, while it will be on research in the areas of English Linguistics and Anglophone Literatures in 2027.
 
Researchers eligible for the awards are prae docs and post docs (a maximum of four years after receiving their doctorate) working at or affiliated with an Austrian university. The prize is €250.00. Costs for board, lodging and 2nd-class train tickets to attend the AAUTE conference will also be covered. Awardees are strongly encouraged to attend the AAUTE conference in person and give a talk about their award-winning article. However, AAUTE membership is not a prerequisite for taking part in the competition.
 
In keeping with AAUTE’s mission, articles submitted must be located within English studies, broadly conceived. This means English Language Teaching and Anglophone Cultural Studies for 2026, and English Linguistics and Anglophone Literatures for 2027. Submissions must be accompanied by a 300-word abstract as well as proof of acceptance or publication by a reputable journal in the field. Please give the name of the journal and its URL.

2024 AAUTE Emerging Talent Awards for Literary and Cultural Studies and ELT and for Linguistics and Cultural Studies and ELT

In 2024, AAUTE will offer two Emerging Talent Awards (Literary and Cultural Studies and ELT; Linguistics and Cultural Studies and ELT) for an unpublished article or an article published in the preceding year (1 January 2023 – 31 December 2023) in the respective categories. Colleagues eligible for the awards: prae docs and post docs (a maximum of four years after receiving their doctorate). The prize is €250.00. Costs for board and lodging to attend the AAUTE conference will also be covered. Deadline for submissions: 15 January 2024. AAUTE membership is not a prerequisite to take part in the competition.

2023 AAUTE Young Talent Awards for Literary and Cultural Studies and for Linguistics and Cultural Studies

In 2023 AAUTE will bestow two Young Talent Awards (Literary and Cultural Studies; Linguistics and Cultural Studies) for an unpublished article in the respective categories. Colleagues eligible for the awards: post docs – a maximum of four years after the date of their promotion. The prize money is €250.00, costs for board and lodging for the AAUTE conference will also be covered. Deadline for submissions: 20 April 2023. AAUTE membership is not a prerequisite.
